The seventh edition of CineLibri International Book & Movie Festival is to be held in the autumn between 14 and 31 October 2021. As the venerators of this gorgeous annual event already know, it’s a showcase of the best book-to-screen adaptations completed during the last year or two. An important part of the festival program is the Short Film Competition.
This year, CineLibri is looking again for inventive, distinctive, outstanding short book-to-screen adaptations from all over the world!
Why should you apply for participation in this competition?
Proven to be the world’s first international book&movie festival, CineLibri is an extraordinary event, inspired by the fruitful interaction of arts – cinema and literature, in particular. For the rising talents in the short film industry it is a brilliant opportunity to explore and apply their ideas in such a collaborative, multi-art format. CineLibri is held in Sofia and other district centres in Bulgaria every autumn, and shows the best examples of film adaptations based on literary and dramatic works – contemporary, modern or classic. The festival is an independent showcase for high-quality European film productions and co-productions.
Traditionally, CineLibri encompasses official selection of competing films, both full-length feature films and short films, and parallel programme of films out of competition. All of them are based on books or inspired by literary and dramatic works.
From the very beginning, CineLibri includes attractive educational modules, e.g. lectures, panel discussions with visiting experts, masterclasses and workshops, open literary premieres and meetings with famous film producers, screenwriters, directors, composers, actors etc., various events featuring the special guests of the festival. The meetings with established European and world creators and talented young professionals in the field of cinema and all the accompanying events with dignified speakers and guests aim at promoting Europe’s cultural heritage and contemporary European cinema and literature.
