The fifth edition of the International Book & Movie Festival CineLibri will be held from 5 to 20 October in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and other Bulgarian cities! The programme envisages extraordinary premieres and meetings with outstanding movie and literary stars, various celebrations, film retrospectives and a series of educational events. Among them is the international workshop „The Art of the Adapted Screenplay“. So, with this announcement we have just started the official run-up of CineLibri 2019!

The screenwriting workshop is based on literary works and drama, incl. novels, short novels, short stories and plays. The talent of the participants will contribute to the unique atmosphere of this inspiring two-day forum, which will take place within the fifth edition of the world’s only book&movie festival. If you want to experience an adventure that combines cinema and literature, if you have your own „visual“ ideas born from the contact with good literature, it is the right time and place to make your dreams come true.

The event is an incredible chance for you to get acquainted with real luminaries in the field of screenwriting and adapting of books and true stories into the big screen – Linda Seger and Julian Friedmann. The Bulgarian producer, screenwriter and director Dimitar Kotzev – Shosho will join them as well. The screenwriting workshop will be held entirely in English!

The screenwriting workshop is meant to welcome in Sofia professionals, both debutants and experienced ones, from across Europe, who aspire to develop new projects in the field of literary adaptations into the big screen or TV movies. Aimed at complementing the knowledge and filling in specialized education gaps of both local and foreign film screenwriters, the workshop platform will gather experts, lecturers and masterclasses in two consecutive days during the festival period. As CineLibri co-owners are reputed book publishers since 1989, and have promoted hundreds of prominent authors who represent different epoches, genres and styles, they have the expertise needed for accomplishing educational events of this nature. That is why the workshop is focused on the special skill of adapting literary material into movies, being addressed to all filmmakers, including screenwriters, writers, directors, producers, and whoever is interested in this delicate and meaningful occupation.

The workshop is internationally open for submission for early birds from 15th of May to 1st of July and for normal attendants from 1 July to 1st of September. For the fee charged, apart from the direct workshop benefits, applicants who are selected would be provided with certificate for completed training, literature and printed materials, a downtown hotel in Sofia  for three nights, main meals, accreditation for all CineLibri screenings and invitation for VIP parties. Plane tickets are at the expense of the entrants.

Detailed information about the terms and conditions, lecturers, schedule and content of the lectures themselves can be found on the CineLibri website: https://www.cinelibri.com/cinelibri-workshop-the-art-of-adapting-a-screenplay/
