The youth drama “Summer of 85” which was part of the competition program of CineLibri 2020, is to be distributed in Sofia and other Bulgarian cities from November 6, 2020. Francois Ozon takes a layered storytelling approach to challenge the audience to dig deeply into this coming-of-age melodrama with a bizarre macabre twist in its narrative.
SUMMER OF 85 (France, Belgium 2020), original title: ÉTÉ 85, 90 min., drama directed by François Ozon. The film is not recommended for persons aged under 12 years.

François Ozon is an undisputed master of elegant provocation and one of the brightest names in French cinema. The director of Eight Women (2002), Swimming Pool (2003) and Frantz (2016) this time opted for an adaptation of the novel by Aidаn Chambers “Dance on my grave”. “Summer of 85” is a skilfully composed youth drama that follows the story of a maturation. A wise, raw, nostalgically beautiful story of first love and loss, which does not leave the viewer indifferent.
What do you dream of when you’re 16 years old and in a seaside resort in Normandy in the 1980s? A best friend? A lifelong teen pact? Scooting off on adventures on a boat or a motorbike? Living life at breakneck speed? No. You dream of death. Because you can’t get a bigger kick than dying. And that’s why you save it till the very end. The summer holidays are just beginning, and this story recounts how Alexis grew into himself.
